{"id":1232,"date":"2010-10-15T08:54:26","date_gmt":"2010-10-15T07:54:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.blog.virtuosewadventures.co.uk\/wordpress\/?p=1232"},"modified":"2011-03-24T20:50:30","modified_gmt":"2011-03-24T20:50:30","slug":"more-canvaswork-inspired-by-clarice-cliff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.blog.virtuosewadventures.co.uk\/wordpress\/2010\/10\/15\/more-canvaswork-inspired-by-clarice-cliff\/","title":{"rendered":"More Canvaswork Inspired By Clarice Cliff"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_1307\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.blog.virtuosewadventures.co.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/CanvasHollyhockHouse.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1307\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1307\" src=\"http:\/\/www.blog.virtuosewadventures.co.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/CanvasHollyhockHouse.jpg\" alt=\"Canvaswork Hollyhock House\" width=\"300\" height=\"293\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1307\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Canvaswork Hollyhock House<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Emboldened by the combination of fun and applause (admittedly only from my parents at that point!), I moved on to the &#8220;Hollyhock House&#8221; design from <a title=\"Re-issue of Designs Inspired By Clarice Cliff\" href=\"http:\/\/www.blog.virtuosewadventures.co.uk\/wordpress\/2010\/02\/26\/thecatwhowalked\/\">the series of Designs Inspired by Clarice Cliff<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Again in two versions, and again I haven&#8217;t photographed the tent stitch cushion.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Hungarian Stitch\" href=\"http:\/\/needlepoint.about.com\/od\/stitchdiagrams\/ss\/HungarStitch.htm\">Hungarian Stitch<\/a> is another of my favourites, and you will notice that there is still more <a title=\"Cashmere Stitch\" href=\"http:\/\/needlepoint.about.com\/od\/texturedstitches\/ss\/CashmereStitch.htm\">Cashmere Stitch<\/a>, <a title=\"Diagonal Mosaic Stitch\" href=\"http:\/\/needlepoint.about.com\/od\/texturedstitches\/ss\/DiagonalMosaic.htm\">Diagonal Mosaic Stitch<\/a> and <a title=\"Upright Cross Stitch\" href=\"http:\/\/www.threadneedlestreet.com\/Upright_Cross_Stitch.html\">Upright Cross Stitch<\/a>. I chose to work the poplar-like trees in a <a title=\"A variant on Sheaf Stitch\" href=\"http:\/\/needlework.craftgossip.com\/tutorial-wheat-sheaf-stitch\/2009\/09\/09\/\">Sheaf Stitch<\/a> variant, which I think was not hugely successful, but an interesting experiment. The background is Linen Stitch (diagrammed on my post about <a title=\"The Lady By The Lake\" href=\"http:\/\/www.blog.virtuosewadventures.co.uk\/wordpress\/2010\/08\/13\/the-lady-by-the-lake-another-early-project\/\">The Lady By the Lake<\/a>) as it doesn&#8217;t obtrude, but it does cover the canvas thoroughly.<\/p>\n<p>At some point soon I should find a suitable thread for the outlines and then finish these two.
